Ten Days Allah Swore By: The First Ten Days of Dhu'l Hijjah

*In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate*
The first ten days of Dhu'l Hijjah are blessed days: Allah Most High Himself swore by them in the Qur'an:
/"By the Dawn,/
/and the Ten Nights..."/
[Qur'an, /Surat// al-Fajr/, 89.1-2]
The commentators generally concur that the /ten nights /refers, 'the first ten days of Dhu'l Hijjah,' as one may find in Shaykh al-Islam Abu Su`ud's/Irshad al-`Aql al-Salim ila Mazaya al-Qur'an al-Karim [famous as /Tafsir Abi al-Su`ud/, 9.153] or in /Tafsir al-Jalalayn/.
Imam Ahmad and Nasa'i report from the Mother of Believers, Sayyida Hafsa (Allah be pleased with her) that, "The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) did not leave four matters: Fasting `Ashura [10th of Muharram], [during] the ten days [of Dhu'l Hijja], and three days of each month."
1. Fasting the First Nine Days, Especially the Day of `Arafah (9^th )
The scholars concur that it is recommended to fast during the first nine days of Dhu'l Hijja. (The tenth day is the day of Eid, and is prohibitively disliked and sinful to fast this day.) [Buhuti, /Kashshaf al-Qina`/; Nawawi,/Majmu`/; /Fatawa Hindiyya/; Haskafi, /Durr al-Mukhtar/; Dardir, /al-Sharh al-Saghir/]
This is because of the numerous hadiths that have come in praise of this day in particular and fasting in it. Among these is:
Abu Qatada (Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, "Fasting the Day of `Arafah [9^th of Dhu'l Hijjah] expiates for two years, one prior and one forthcoming. And fasting the Day of `Ashura [10^th of Muharram] expiates for the past year." [Reported by Muslim, Abu Dawud, Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah]
2. Increasing One's Spiritual Works During these Ten Days
Similarly, it is recommended to busy oneself these days with worship of Allah. Imam Sharaf al-Din al-Hijjawi, the great Hanbali faqih, states in his primary text, /al-Iqna`/,:
"It is recommend to exert oneself in good works during the first ten days of Dhu'l Hijjah, such as remembrance of Allah (dhikr), fasting, charity, and other righteous actions, because they are the best of days." [Buhuti,
/Kashshaf al-Qina`/, 2.60]
Many scholars even stated that daytimes of these ten days are more virtuous than the ten daytimes of the last ten days of Ramadan, because of the strength of the primary texts related to them.
3. Spending the Nights of These Days In Prayer and Worship
It is especially recommended to spend some part of each of the nights of these ten days in prayer and worship. [Nawawi, ]
This was deduced by clear primary texts, such as Prophet's words (Allah bless him and give him peace) that, "There are no days in which good works are more beloved to Allah than these days - meaning the first ten days of Dhu'l Hijjah." The Companions asked, 'Not even jihad in the path of Allah, O Messenger of Allah?' He said (Allah bless him & give him peace), "Not even jihad in the path of Allah, except for the one who goes forth with his person and wealth and does not return with any of it." [Bukhari and others]
May Allah give us success in these blessed days and nights, and in every moment of our lives, to follow the path of the Prophet (Allah bless him & give him peace), and may He make us of those whom He loves and who love Him.

but that was not for eid
just needed some change
but i heard that thre is a lot of sgnificance for the 1st ten days of this month
that is if u fast n pray at nights

haan last time bohot maza aaya thaa!!...Myra yaad hai paplu fit kiya thaa sab ka!?....tab tumhara purana wala ghar tha na!!tab toh tumhare poore kamre mein NOORI NOORI tha ek jaga bhi nahi thii jahaan per NOORI na ho! ..waise mujhe is baar bhi bohot maza aaya!! |

lol!!...waise maine 1st day per bilkul bhi enjoy nahi kiya!!..cauz main poora din ghar mein bethi huwi thii!! ..& 2nd & 3rd & 4th day per bohot ziyadah enjoy kiya cauz hum HYDERABAD gaye the!!..wahaan per hamare saare cousinz hai na!!...& 3rd day per hum cousinz pizza hut gaye the!!..Maira & bohot cousinz the hamare!!..then maine Myra ke ghar mein night spend ki & hum log subah ke 5:3 per soye the!!..poori raat humlog noori noori kar rahe the!!..hamein toh bohot ziyadah maza aaya!!...hum logon ne disco lights lounge mein rakhii thii & deck bhi & hum sab lounge mein dance kar rahe the!!...uske baad hum comp per bethe & tv bhi dekh rahe the!!...then hamare cousinz chale gaye the!!..likin humlog tabhi bhi comp per bethe huwe the!!..phir hum log room mein chale gaye the & baaatein kar rahe the!!...& u know wht hum logon ne 2 glasses bhi tore the jab hamare saare cousinz the!!...sab bare log chale gaye the ghoomne!!..hum sab bache hi the ghar mein!!...v had so much fun!! & 4th day per hum log picnic karne gaye the likin tab Maira nahi thii!!..hamein picnic mein bhi bohot maza aaya!!.phir us din raat ko meri cousin ki shaadi ki taarikh paki huwi thii & then hum sab log dance kar rahe the!!..then hum log raat ko hi waapas Khi aagaye...raat ke 11:47 per nikle the Hyd se!!...phir 3:26 per Khi pohnche!!..waise mujhe bohot maza aaya 2nd , 3rd & 4th day per!!.. |

Famuk your eid sounds like fun to me.....this my my opinon on a good eid, to be anywhere but not at HOME!!!! and i hope the rest of you guys had a fabulous eid as well, and i am sorry if you didnt, try and have a better one next time....and larki i hope you find out about your friend soon, actually my eid isnt over yet, cuz i have a party for "my" friends at my house friday, and oh God i am stressing out..... |

Desert Rose, your Eid sounds quite alright..
Mine was the best Eid I've ever had in Dubai-EVER! =)
On the first day obviously I climbed out of bed with sleep in my eye..reminding myself that it was Eid ki morn and not a date with my math books; I quickly got dressed and then we went for Eid namaaz, it was good, especially the khutba, I'm usually unable to understand even a word of it, because the guy has a very punjabi accent and punjabizes all the urdu and english words..it's so irritating. After that we came home [obviously!] and had Eid treats. There's this family trad of having sheer khurma, it's made in a special way which has been passed down by someone's great great granny..mid-afternoon we left off to meet people..and they were all grown-ups, but sometimes they're fun to watch..most of these people had kids, guys rather..about my age and man they were the funniest..they kept calling their mums for the most ridiculous reasons imaginablE!.I was out the whole day and by the time I came home, I was exhausted and not even sleepy anymore. The 2nd day I went to the capital..scratch that-the ultra-boring capital and we met some unusally lively people..the third day..I was studying..but spent most of my day at a friend's house-no Eid treats there :(
